Well friends, I got it! I am officially official in the state of Texas! It has been quite the journey to get this far, but here I am.

And here we are about to take the STAAR. I am super excited to give my kids their testing treats.

Monday, I'm going to give them these....

  Tuesday, after their math test...

And Wednesday before the reading test.

I'm actually really excited to see the results!

Life in Austin So Far...

Well, it has been three months since our big move and I am just now getting enough time to post again! Life has been absolutely C-R-A-Z-Y!! We moved here knowing only that I would be starting out as a kindergarten substitute teacher for six weeks and hoping that I would get another job at the school after my time was up.

The day after we got here I began setting up the classroom because the teacher I was subbing for was put on bed rest before having her baby. I worked for the next few days getting the classroom setup, learning the new curriculum, and meeting lots of new (and very helpful!) people!

Here are a few pictures of what it looked like when I was done.

School began on Wednesday and I jumped right in, getting to know my students names and cute little kindergarten faces! (...and tying shoes, and fastening belts, and handing out tissues...) Oh and we had also been going car shopping every day after I was done with school. Ryan had been driving me everywhere this whole time, since I can't drive stick & we only brought his car! Thankfully we found a pretty nice one. : )

Over the weekend, Ryan and I decided to check out the Austin Pets Alive shelter. We fell in love with the sweetest, most shy little puppy, and ended up taking him home for our 3 year anniversary present to each other.
                                  Our little Jack!

Yeah....he tricked us. Not as sweet & shy as we thought.
Don't worry, he's much better now!

I took my texes exam the following Monday in order to be considered "highly qualified" which would allow me to take a teaching position if the offer came. I found out I passed on Sunday, (and after subbing for only a week and a half) I was called into the office during class on Monday for a meeting.

The meeting where I found out I had a real teaching job! The school needed to add a whole new section of third graders, which meant they also needed a teacher! I was amazed at how fast everything was happening, and obviously said yes before I even knew exactly what was going on.

I spent the next weekend setting up and planning for my new class (again!). Thankfully it was Labor Day weekend so I had an extra day to work on things, and thankfully I had some help again! Here's what it looked like when it was done...

And here's what it looks like now that I'm finally done....(and yes it did take until mid-November!)

I could actually go on, but this blog is pretty long already! I'll have to fill you in on the rest next time : )

¡AdiĆ³s from Austin!

Let the Adventure Begin!

After a few tearful goodbyes, we hit the road bright & early this morning (7 am), which wouldn't seem nearly as early if we had ANY rest the last several days! Thankfully we had lots of help packing yesterday or I really don't think we'd have made it all the way to Oklahoma yet! (We really appreciate everyone who helped!!! We couldn't have done it alone! Thanks again!) Here's a few pictures from our journey so far:
